Harness Your Self-Empowerment

January 25, 2021

Welcome to 2021 and all the changes this new year has already brought! Now is the perfect time to assess where you are and how to create the life you want. Over the next few weeks, I’ll share thoughts about empowerment, the most crucial skill you need for a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life.

Empowerment has become one of those words that everyone uses, but we usually don’t take the time to define what it means. Without a definition, it can sound out of reach.

So let’s take a moment to ask: What is empowerment? When I work with clients, I define empowerment as the ability to choose what you want and define your path forward, making effective choices from a place of strength and sureness. Empowerment enhances and elevates every significant aspect of life, including career and leadership, relationships and communication, and your spiritual path. Empowerment is the ability and confidence to choose what feeds your soul, rather than depleting it.

As a coach, I find that empowerment is foundational to guiding clients to a better life, and it’s often the first aspect we address. You see, we grow up in a culture that teaches us what is right or wrong, what is essential, and how to fit in. To survive, we learn and follow the rules. For some of us, this societal framework aligns with who we are, and we are happy and satisfied; if you are in this category—great! The concept of empowerment still has a lot to offer to take you to your next level.

But what if you’re doing everything you’re “supposed to” and still feeling overwhelmed, stressed out, sad, or stuck? What if you’re continually coping with emotional pain? Those “negative” feelings are an opportunity to pay attention to where your life is out of balance and find guidance to live differently.

Everyone is in a different place on the path to empowerment, yet the next step is to ensure you define what you truly want. We’re not talking about what you want for dinner or where you’re going to go on vacation next. We’re talking about deep desires. Not just what you want to achieve, but who you want to be. How do you want to live and move through the world, fulfilled and aligned with your vision and values?

I encourage you to start from within yourself. Listen to your internal voice about what lights you up, where you feel like you’re in a state of zen, and time passes by. Those clues can help you start piecing together what you truly desire, and as you put the pieces together, the grand vision will begin to focus.

If you haven’t taken the time recently to answer what you truly want, I invite you to sit with this idea for a bit. I find that we all could use more clarity in genuinely defining what we want out of life. Once you do, creating the skills, habits, and opportunities in your life to build the life you desire will come more naturally.

If you find yourself stuck, I offer these prompts to help you discover your true desires:

  • What do you care about?
  • What do you enjoy?
  • What comes naturally to you?

When I coach toward empowerment, I help you recognize and listen to your inner voice and encourage you to follow it. I help you to discern with understanding and tap into your deepest knowing to find your own best answers to your most important questions. You learn to receive support and encouragement, to trust yourself, and follow your heart. As you practice and grow, you start to let your inspiration guide you.

If you’re ready to begin your journey to empowerment or continue on your path with support and guidance to progress better and faster, schedule a Discovery Session with me.

Warmly,
